The Transcendental Meditation Technique® with Jim and Linda Brooks
Eliminate Stress to Enhance Relationships
Over 600 published scientific research studies make the Transcendental Meditation technique the most thoroughly researched meditation technique practiced today. It originated in India over 5,000 years ago, and was revived and brought to the west by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the late 1960’s. The TM Technique is practiced for 20 minutes twice a day, while sitting comfortably.
Highlights of the research findings are:
- Practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation technique have been found to have unique brain wave coherence that is associated with experiences of higher states of consciousness.
- People who practice the Transcendental Meditation technique for 5 years or longer have an average biological age 12 years younger than their chronological age.
- The Transcendental Meditation technique has been shown to lower high blood pressure and cholesterol, and to reduce tobacco use, thereby reducing the major risk factors of heart disease.
- A meta-analysis of research done on different meditation practices shows that the Transcendental Meditation technique is twice as effective as other methods in reducing anxiety. In another study authored by Jim, Vietnam veterans showed significant reduction in post traumatic stress disorder. Read the complete study.
- Health insurance statistics indicate that practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation technique have fewer outpatient physician visits and inpatient hospitalizations in virtually every disease category.
- IQ, which is considered fixed after childhood, has been found to increase in college students who practice the Transcendental Meditation technique.
Jim and Linda are both certified teachers of the Transcendental Meditation technique. They were personally trained by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and have taught TM extensively in the USA and South Africa. They offer TM courses on the south shore of Kauai, where they live. "As a heart surgeon, I see the effects of stress on the heart as the leading cause of death in the Western world. This meditation, we believe, can help a lot of people. It's important to understand exactly how TM reduces stress and stress-related disorders." —
